The Davis County Fair is a long running tradition with the first fair held in 1854 staged north of the square in Bloomfield, IA. The first fairs were one-day events. The Davis County Agricultural Society was incorporated in 1879 and the fair was soon relocated to its present site in the west part of town and the length of the event was extended. Due to community and national circumstances, there were a few years when no fair held.
The annual five-day fair is held with a variety of attractions. Nightly entertainment is presented in front of the grandstand including wheeled events and musical concerts. The fair includes several free acts sponsored by local individuals and businesses. Free games and events are held for the youngsters and adults as well.
4-H and FFA livestock and static exhibits are located in six buildings on the fair grounds.
Local producer groups provide quality food for fair attendees at a reasonable price. Other non-profit groups are represented in the food court as well were there are two covered structures for your eating pleasure.
Other buildings on the grounds house nightly bingo, commercial events and vendors; and there is a log cabin museum where Davis County Fair memorabilia can be seen each year.
A clean, reputable carnival is on the grounds each year.
Ample camping spaces are rented during the fair with many families making this a part of their families’ summer vacation.
There is free gate admission and free vehicle parking during the fair.
The complete schedule for the current fair is available on the fair website www.daviscountyfair.org Other contact information can be found there regarding rental of the buildings and a listing of other events held on the grounds throughout the year.
